Start Sailing, May 16-24 2011

Course Fully Booked

We still have a couple of spots available on our next evening course with Aengus Kennedy.  This Start Sailing course begins May 16 and is the perfect course for absolute beginners looking to get started and build their confidence for an enjoyable summer of sailing. If interested, contact us at rathmullanwatersports@gmail or on 086 386 3455.

Having a blast improving skills

Our first course of the season just finished last week. Six sailors successfully earned their Improving Skills certs under the guidance of Aengus Kennedy. The weather played along, blessing us with some beautiful evenings on the water, as you’ll see in the picture above, and acting as a stunning backdrop to sailors trapezed out with their gennekers flying.

This is a superb course for anyone looking to build on what they learned in Start Sailing and Basic Skills. It only runs a couple times this season – so don’t miss out.

Improving Skills / ISA Level 3 April 18–26

We still have two spots left on our opening course for the season, Improving Skills from April 18–26, taught by the masterful Aengus Kennedy.

For anyone who has completed Levels 1 and 2 and is looking to move up the skills ladder this season, this is the course for you. Aengus will be using the school’s Laser Bahias to teach you advanced sailing skills and introduce you to the thrills of kites and wires.

Weekend Packages with Rathmullan House

This is one great value you’re not going to want to miss out on.

Together with the multi-award-winning Rathmullan House Hotel, the Rathmullan Sailing and Watersports School is offering unbelievable weekend watersports packages – 2 nights bed and breakfast and three instruction sessions on the water, all for only 250 Euros pps. Choose between the all sailing, all kayaking, or a combined watersports weekend.

New 2011 Programme!

!

The evenings are already getting longer, Spring is just around the corner, and before you know it, we’ll soon be enjoying days like the one above again (with a bit more wind in those sails, hopefully.)

No better time then to check out our new course programme for 2011 and make plans to join us on the water this season. We have a new and exciting range of options on offer, catering for both adults and children. As well as the next level of skills being taught in our ‘Improving Skills’ courses for adults and children, we have a new “Water Week” course on offer for children, introducing combined kayaking and sailing adventures!

Also new for 2011 – The Rathmullan Sailing and Watersports Club is offering participants in a course at the School a new members discount of 20% off their first years subscription. This is a fabulous, good-value opportunity to keep getting on the water long after you’ve finished your course.

So, click on our 2011 Programme and get planning.

Sailing towards Christmas

It’s not even the end of November and we’ve already had to scrape ice off the boats here in Rathmullan before heading out for a sail. The bright side is, members of the Rathmullan Sailing Club are still getting out for a weekly sail. Well, at least those among us with proper winter wetsuits.

During the quieter winter months, both the school and the club will be working on plans for next season. Be sure to check the website now and again to find out what’s on the calendar.

Rathmullan 2011 Calendar
On the subject of calendars for 2011, the Rathmullan Sailing and Watersports Club have produced a beautiful calendar using some spectacular photography of the area from local and visiting photographers. Obviously, we’re a bit biased, but we think this is truly a very nice piece that would make an excellent Christmas present for anyone with even the most tenuous connection to the area. Just look at the cover!

On top of that, it’s all for a good cause. The proceeds benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Centre in Rathmullan and the Club. So, for less than a tenner you can give someone a beautiful gift and support the community at the same time. The calendars are available in all local shops, pubs, restaurants, hotels, the St. Vincent de Paul Centre, as well as the local post office.

Sailing School Vouchers
And if that isn’t idea enough for a good Christmas gift, how about a voucher for the Rathmullan Sailing and Watersports School? You can purchase them in any denomination and they can be redeemed against the cost of any of our sailing or kayaking courses. 10 Euros, 20 Euros, 30 Euros … you decide how much you want to spend. These too can be purchased locally in Rathmullan at the White Harte Pub, An Bonnan Bui Restaurant, Rathmullan House Hotel, the Rathmullan Post Office, or by emailing us at rathmullanwatersports@gmail.com. This is the perfect gift for all ages.
